Busher, them pups are crackers matey, and i really like the look of smallys broken coated dog. How do the beagle / russels compare to the spaniel x terrier or spaniel x hound mix anyone know? And do you dinf the beagle x russels hunt off on a line or will they bush in closer as well? What about a 3/4 russel?

my mate just breeding some cocker beagles ... my self iv never worked a spaniel cross' so i dont no.. but i do no lads that have worked them n i hear good reports about them... my stuff is beagle russell bedlington n griffon vandeen mix.... the mother to these pups on here will hunt her quarry hard... n she will hunt a line n work close in as well ... like i say uv gota be on top ov them from go....to correct there faults.. let this type ov cross espesh'' beagle cross to do what it wants.. n u will have a hard time ov it.. lot ov people put spaniel back to the mix to make them more biddable n easier to handle.. horses for courses mate... Thanks busher. Very helpful

Smily - I'm sure the dog works well for you, but it's not doing exactly what i want if it's 22". We have runner here that can hunt cover and woodland or hill side all day and find game, but no dog of 22" can get into the places we want it to. It's dogs for jobs.

Why did you use a pure russel over your bitch if you don't mind me asking

well mate shes got enugh hound blood in her all ready.. her father was a full beagle back to a bedlington russell griffon vandeen.. n i think she needed going bk to terrier to keep the mix right.. i think its finding the right ballance' ov this type ov dog as well i could have gone bk to anouther hound cross type' but would i be puting to much hound blood bk.. i dont think thats what u want in this sort ov dog ... to much hound blood... my mate hunts a full beagle bitch with me.. but shes steady n prity bidable for a beagle n a good grafter' but av seen a lot more that soon as u hit a line '' ud spend rest off day looking for the dog.. n that is what i didnt want in pups.. by adding more hound blood.. Mate of mine has got a bitch that was up for rehoming I think it's a border/parson terrier x good size. Great bushier, works lines well, screams like mad on the chase, will not go to ground that I can bet my house on lol but will get stuck into bigger things. Been around the dog since 10 weeks old think she's about 2 now, he wanted a working home for her, you might have to break her to birds as I know she nailed a geese the other week but I can give him a bell if you want see if the dogs still there

Why is everyone recommending a x? A good spaniel or cocker will bush all day for the lurchers?

Because he mentions that he doesn't want a spaniel or cocker for personal reasons lol

I missed that lol

A mate of mine who s a keeper has a spaniel x pat which works well in cover no problem at all, its tough as old boots, it will try to go to ground though, but just to big and wont stay.

Busher - them pups sound great!

Smily - a bit of everything mate, and i have thought t teckle, but the price and pure hound puts me off. I saw some cocker / teckels on here ages ago, that would be ideal.
