uncle-silas 4
Hi Guys, im not usually on this part of the forum but help is needed !! ive just stripped my ruger 10 22 and had my first proper look down the barrel only to see that there is hardly any rifling, i know some guns don't have defined rifling but is the ruger one of them ?, my groupings seemed ok (not brilliant) on my last zero ?? any knowledge gratefully received ! GRAM71 29
might be lead build up, AFAIK most 22lr are about 1-20 twist Quote Link to post

cookey 1
10-22 have a 1 in 16 twist and it is hardly noticable in the barrel if your groupes are off i would say u are cleaning it 2 much in my experince a ruger 10-=22 needs the barrel well leded in to b accurate how many rounds have u shot between cleaning i try not to clean barrel between 500-2000 rounds it takes over 500 to properly led in the barrel and when it is u will have pin point accuracy and dont clean again till she starts loosing zero .. if u over clean all the small imperfection in the barrel just put the bullet off target but if u led it in properly in time it will get better and better at 50 yards my ruger has a 5mm groupe now but if i clean it thats groupe is 1 inch . A 22lr is a bit like a airrifel u have to led in barrel now a lot of ppl will disagree with me but sum will agree and well my 10-22 has out shot many custom bolt action rifels . so to sum up what i am saying is a clean barrel is not a happy barrel in a 10-22 Quote Link to post
