Brian-911 210
Went out with me mate and his two ferrets to a new bit of permission about 10am yesterday. on which he discovered a badger set but with about 10-12 different rabbit holes around it and a couple going off it. There was lots of rabbit droppings all around the holes, and I saw a rabbit right by the set whilst approaching. Netted up and went to enter his first ferret which didn't go down, tried another hole same again and another still didn't wanna know. So got the other out and exactly the same with her. There 6-7 months old and from working stock so can't understand why they didn't wanna go down. They were just sniffing around the holes. Why would they not enter never known a ferret not to enter??? rob190364 2,594
have a read through this thread bud, sometimes you need to persevere.. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/218186-confusing-one/page__fromsearch__1 However, personally with it being their first time out I'd have found a non-badger occupied 3 or 4 holer just to get them going first, you might have tried to throw them in the deep end a little? just a though. Brian-911 210
Have you done anything with them ?. Ran them threw a few pipes etc ?. Tried entering them with a older ferret ?. No don't think he has, I've never known a ferret not to enter, I think it could of been that maybe there weren't any rabbits there or maybe they were more interested in the scent from the rabbit that had been sat on top of the warren as we arrived. I'll take him out with me the weekend and try them again. I have heard of a ferret not go in before but two of them not entering is a lil strange. Quote Link to post

Tug 168
It is an offence to carry out any activity within 10 metres of an active set, and certain activities (including excavation) within 20 metres. From your original post I got the impression that you were bang on top of one. I'm not saying you are an anti, trolling is posting something controversial in order to provoke a strong response (like saying you are breaking the law by contravening the conditions of the Badger Act) Thanks for swearing in your post and then calling me simple, we all know that profanity is the first resort of somebody with nothing intelligent to say. I'm not simple, I'm a proud countryman who sees himself as an ambassador for the sport, doing my best to portray a positive image and secure the long term future of the sport. Any anti would have a field day with your post, can you clarify that you aren't working right next to a badger sett? Edited February 4, 2012 by Tug Quote Link to post
