Gunner123 103 Posted February 5, 2012 Report Share Posted February 5, 2012 (edited) Diaz is a talented fighter, he wouldn't be where he was if he wasnt, and that goes for alot of UFC/MMA fighters. I dont think foot work in the boxing sence is mirrored in the octagon, for one main obvious reason the fighters can use their legs for striking. Stance, balance and positioning are all different when standing and having the use of all four limbs rather than two. Diaz is a very smart strategical fighter, he can box and he can work an opponent to exhaustion, as he has the tools to do it, one being great natural wind-cardio. His body shots are very good, have a look at bj penns face after their fight, penn has barely had a mark on his face in his carreer and was rated the best boxer/striker in his class. Diaz soon ended that myth, he out classed penn. I wouldnt say his striking is average. Hats off to condit, he stayed out of the way and was for 95% of the fight walking back. He avoided getting into the situation where diaz wanted (against the wall) him as he knew he would be outclassed and finished if he hadn't. If the bell didnt go when it did, diaz would have likley tapped him out on the floor. On foot or on the floor diaz is very very good. Condit fought a defensive tactical fight and it paid off. Just how GSP fights, he avoids his opponents strengths and uses his. Obvious really, the school of greg jackson teaches so LOL He is teaching fighters to avoid, which makes for a boring fight. All in my wee personal opinion of course ! Anyone ever wanted to see just what it would be like when a mma fighter meets an average john doe hard man ? Very american hyped show, but very real in the cage. Ignore the hyped up bull crap via the audience and such.
