mjr88 50
Hi all I've recently picked up a late 70's / early 's 177 Bsa Mercury , and i am just wondering what scope you guys recommend that wont break the bank. To be honest , i dont want to spend any more than about £50 if possible as the gun is currently being serviced at the gunsmiths , and as usual i'm on a budget. Maybe a Hawk , or a leapers , Nikko sterling , Walther etc. Are there any scopes to avoid because they can't handle the springers recoil. Are any too long , and could cause problems when cocking the rifle ? The Gun will only be used for general plinking and maybe a bit of bunny bashing too. Any advice will be greatly appreciated , as i hope to get the rifle home soon from the gunsmiths , and start to refurbish the stock. I reckon that a nice new scope will finish the job nicely , even if it is a cheap one Regards , John Quote Link to post

Yes , the 3-9x40 looks a real bargan at £29.99. I was also looking at the Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 3-9x40 PX priced at £36.99. Have you got any info on this scope , John http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/riflescopes-nikko-stirling-mountmaster/nsmm3940ao-nikko-stirling-mountmaster-3-9x40-px-adj--riflescope-with-mounts-nmm3940ao.html Quote Link to post

Have you got any info on this scope , John http://www.jsramsbot...-nmm3940ao.html i used a mountmaster years ago, and for their price theyre pretty good. i preferred the jsr cos theres less to mess about with, as its a set parallax which suits me fine. i think the jsr has a better sight picture too, but its on an airgun at the end of the day, so its not like it needs swarofzki quality really. both the mountmaster and the jsr will suit a meteor just fine mate, but like rake says, theres plenty of bargains on ebay. i'd be more prone to buying new online personally, just because its guaranteed, if only for the delivery journey. cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Iv used the nikko stirling 3_9*40 on my Diana and it was ample .. Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
As above with the Nikko and JSR 3-9x40. If you can shell out just a little bit more JSR do a 2-7x32 that's made especially for springers. I've used one for years on all kinds of things and I can't recomend them highly enough. Very strong and a fantasticly clear image for the price. Quote Link to post
