BEARINATOR 2,872
I always have a walk over it during day light to check for hidden dangers, but when I've got different lads out I'll slip my own dog in places where their is a danger of a strange dog hitting a hidden obstacle Quote Link to post
hedge mumper 78
Sometimes. If I see a lot of game somwhere Items to chip off an wait for a dark windy night. I do believe its good for a dog to have an idea of the ground it's about to run.atb Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
I'm lucky. The land I lamp I also ferret and mooch on by day. And there's places on it I wouldn't dream of slipping a dog at night: gravel pits, deep drains almost hidden by reeds and stuff, fallen trees, and tons of barbed wire everywhere. Lethal stuff for a dog with lots of drive. 1 Quote Link to post
Guest born to run1083
In an ideal world it's great to know the land you run and night but it ain't always the way it works out. Quote Link to post
3 Turns 326
I ALWAYS RECCY THE GROUND IN THE DAYTIME ,SAFER FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED DOG,S AND MAN. YOU DONT NEED TO TAKE YOUR DOG DURING THE DAY 1 Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
Walking the land during the day not only learns you the danger zones, but also the easiest points of access to other fields etc.Nothing worse than blind lamping and struggling to enter the next field. You can also see where the quarry is seeking refuge and use the knowledge gained to plan your night accordingly. 2 Quote Link to post
