Ideation 8,216
Ideation, this isnt a dig at all, but you seem to know what your doing, why have you 10 ferrets? i myself have 5. must repeat, not a dig at all, but do you have the work for 10? and you say that your young friend tom has 2 and johnnyboy has some? just curious, ATB I will explain. I have two old jills, about six / seven. They probably only have one more season in them really, and i have pretty much retired the one, after she had her face split open. I then have a younger jill of about three. I then have two hobs and a jill which will be two this summer. They have just got into full working swing. The hobs were also brought in as outside blood to breed into my line. I then had a litter of 5 kits this year out of my oldest and best jill - i gave one jill kit to young tom, and kept the other jill for myself. I also kept the three hobs, to run on and keep the best for myself. So once i have retired / passed on what is too old / i don't need, i will be back down to six ferrets, which is about right for me - three working jills, two working hobs and one vac hob. My ferrets also fit into slightly different categories - i.e i know one of the jills will kill and move on, whereas one will stick until the bitter end. Also at the end of the day i'm lucky enough to have enough space to keep in good condition as many ferrets as i choose, and i quite like having them about. You never know what's going to happen, i could lose some, the could die etc. I don't like to buy in ferrets as i like my blood, so its important to me to have enough of the blood at my place. that i can always replace what i lose with like. And as i like to travel around the country, often on my own, i know whatever kind of land i face, i will always have the team i need for the job in hand. 1 Quote Link to post
