nice dogs mate....as for a more functional dog siuted to rabbits maybe try a 2nd generation bull cross, small parents ie small heighted pups...21-24 inch is a handy size on the rabbits and game to take on bigger quarry....1st cross is a big sturdy dog and by the sounds too big for what your after ferrifleboy?........other bred dogs into the mix like a collie bull grey or collie x whipp bull should make for a small but cracking working lurcher.....google them and see what images come up mate...all the best...JP/////....:o)

bull crosses are a great lurcher type, maybe not a good idea to buy a big heavy 1st straight bull x as a first introduction to having lurchers but each person and each dog is different...some like the hairy collie (HANCOCK) types...the racy (Ex Track)greyhound types, dhound, bedlington or saluki types or even whippet crosses,,,at the end of the day they're all part of the sighthound family and thats what makes em different, theyre bred to spot and chase down quarry using theyre sight.....each to theyre own as long as your happy with yer hound and your dog is happy with you then you'l have a prosperous good life together.... thats all that matters bud  ....

The bull has been used for years here and there over the track dogs and rich folks hunting(INCLUDING HOUNDS) dogs to add bulk, stature and more gameness to the breeds...ask the irish and n irish lads on here that hunt properly (not just lamping for the odd rabbit) about the bull crosses......most of em have a bit of bully in the genes....i was a bit unsure about the breed till i got one myself and shes the better of my two hounds....very steady, keen and coming on grand at the minute.....sorry about the essay lads just needed to get that off me chest... :D ... :D
