AndyKelly 251
great day yesterday, the shooting season has finished so we were invited by the keeper over the hill to help him in his woods. went into the clearing and there were bunnies everywhere. the jack russell didnt know where to run first!. expected a pretty lackluster day as alot of people on here were saying that the rabbits were in young but a decent haul of 35 rabbits and only one was showing the signs of a pregnancy. mabey the cold weather will keep them off for a while. got go back tomorrow and do it all again well pleased butcher this morning when i rocked up. off to make more poke nets as the woods definatly need them found that the purse nets were not quite enough to cover the overbranches and hanging trees and to cope with the soft ground.need a few extra inches on the pegs too as no one has been over the ground the terrain is very soft and boggy well chuffed with this bit of ground as there hasnt been a ferret or ferreter in there for alot of years.....not a peg mark or track in sight! leegreen 2,173
Good on ya. If there are lots of rabbits the food will be low and rabbits only start to reproduce if enough nutrients are about. This is usually governed by day light hours and temperature which to date has been relatively high, hence the amount of pregnant does. Not the case in your area. Quote Link to post
