tote 854
This morning my son Dylan, my mate Tam and I headed off for a bit of ferreting, as usuall we had Molly and the three generations of albino jills with us. We'd passed a few buries before Molly marked one so it was on with the nets. We got four out of this bury, three bolted into the nets and the other required a 2ft dig to extract it. The next bury produced 2 rabbits and one of them was very unlucky that it didn't manage to escape, as you can see in the pic it had thrown the net off as Tam ran towards it but luckily for us he managed to get his foot on it before grabbing it. Again in the next bury a rabbit escaped from the net but didn't get far before Molly caught it as it dived under a pile of brambles, she quickly delivered it back to hand. While she'd done that Molly had opened the cut on her back leg that she'd originally done 3 weeks ago on the lamp. The jill was still working a rabbit in this bury and after giving her plenty of time we got the locator out and when we finally got a reading it was showing 7ft. It was decided to give her more time to move the rabbit. While all this was going on Molly had wandered off to a nearby bury and was showing a strong mark so Tam and I got the nets on and entered one of the jills and in Quick time she'd emptied the bury of 4 rabbits. As there was still nothing happening in the bury that the jill was working the rabbit in we decided to put the youngest jill in. Within minutes she was onto the rabbit and we could pick up a double bleep on the knocker box, we left them to work away on the rabbit. In the meantime we tried another two buries that Molly had set and got a rabbit out of each of them, both had to be dug out, one at 1ft and the other 2ft. Finally with still no movement from the two jills we decided to dig even though the reading was showing 7ft. I should say Tam and Dylan decided to dig as I'm pretty sure my back wouldn't have stood up to that. Eventually the lads got well down and at last broke through and recovered both jills and one rabbit. Time to fill in the hole and head for home. A few pics from today. 1 Quote Link to post

tote 854
Well done Tote, always trying to figure out where your Ferreting, but as usual im beat. You know where that is Laurie. If we didn't have to spend time on the dig we would've had over 20 easy, even on the way back to the car the bitch was marking buries. Quote Link to post

tote 854
Nice read and picts mate shame about that dig but it looks like sand ?. The top layer was soil and gravel then a layer of clay and pure sand below that. Just as Tam and Dylan hit the sand one of the sides caved in and it took them a further 15 minutes to dig it back out again. Quote Link to post

tote 854
Good day mate, you dig like we do then, what's a few feet to worry about? keeps you warm though. Hope the dog was ok. I'm not over keen on digging Steve, don't mind 2ft or so but 7ft was a bit much for me thankfully Tam done the bulk of the digging and Dylan pitched in aswell. Quote Link to post
