SGC- The wait begins

So after years of borrowing gear and shooting with friends I finally got my backside in gear and applied for a SGC. The pinned post at the top of this section was very useful, so thanks for that.

 

Cabinet is installed and looking sad with only my knives and a foam dart blow pipe inside!

 

Forms went in last Monday and I took great care with them, attached the cheque with a paperclip and left the 4 photos in a card mount. Hopefully my attention to detail will impress and i'll get a visit rather promptly.

dont hold your breath for a quick visit leicestershire are quoting 8 weeks for a varition never mind an initial application

My mates variation has been in for 6 with our local force I'll keep on eye on the cheque as I expect that will fly out of my account.

Put my forms in 12 dec had my interview 21 dec now waiting for my license, phoned them last week and they are still processing OCToBERS thats kent police for ya . O and the check cleared just after my interview lol

Blimey - my cheque cleared days after sending it in! Interview a couple of weeks later and sgc 3 weeks after that.

Result! FEO called today and is interviewing me on Monday

He did however say that the paperwork would take 8 weeks after that

Hi Chris.

I live in Merthyr and come under South Wales Police. Applied coterminous last August and didn't receive my Shotgun and Firearm cert til Jan' this year. Took approx 5 months. No criminal record or anything like that. FEO came and seen me around October. It was such a frustrating and long, long wait. It could have been that I applied for both at the same time. Fingers crossed yours wont take that long.

Its worth the wait in the end though. Incredible feeling when you get your cert through the post.

cashing the cheque makes no difference.a boy i know applied for shotgun,theycashed the cheque then after a while they turned him down and gave him a cheque back.
