Gunner11 0
Hi all, Need some help on how to decoy crows/jackdaws as i have hundreds of them. I have been using painted black pigeon decoy shells and also normal pigeon shells aswell for the ferals. I have also got a hand crow caller which lures them in perfectly but for some reason they dont seem to land!! Im getting really frustrated as there are loads of them hovering but not allowing a shot with an air rifle. I am not able to shoot shotguns on this field as it is too close to a road and foot path which is a nightmare. I have just bought 2 full bodied flocked crow decoys which i havent used yet, Will someone please tell me how i can get them to land, do i use dead bait? etc. Cheers, Cal Quote Link to post

paulk73 151
what kind of caller do you use? as im in the same situation as you. tried bread, and a dead rabbit but with no results so far. also been trying an owl decoy. have been told that the owl will work better at nesting time. the crows and jackdaws have started to refurb their nests but still no results. ive had them landing in the tree tops above and calling down to a shot crow, that i had proped up next to the rabbit. but still non came down to investigate.??????? Im not sure of the name but its a black one with a sort of plastic that hits of eachside making the crow noise, hope we both find a solution to getting these damn birds to fly into the field. Have you tried sitting near trees and put yourself in a shooting postition where you can shoot them from there? I sit near a wooden pylon pole and they sometimes sit there and lately they have been hovering around there so might sit in a position where i can shoot them off the wires Quote Link to post
paulk73 151
ive spent a couple of days sat in a makeshift hide under the trees that they nest in. trying to get them down on the lawn where i can shoot them. i got one the other week, but it was in a tree in the orchard. but the only thing ive had while sat in the hide, is squirrels and pigeons. hopefully il get sommething soon lol Quote Link to post
