MUDD 374
Right lads I'm heading down on Sunday to a venue I know holds big pike, this will be my first time fishing this particular spot but I've done my research and know a few lads that have had good success there in recent months. it's a large enough water though it's not very deep around 6 feet max with a very muddy soft bottom. im near decided in my head on the way im going to approach this water bait, rigs, methods etc. Just out off interest, What methods would yous lads recommend or choose to start off with ??? MUDD 374
Cheers asha. My mate caught a 6lb trout on a smelt on his last trip to this spot so i might bring the spinning rod. Quote Link to post
xHOUNDx 33
soak your dead baits in predator plus liqud attractor over night, the pike pick it up much sooner than they would without it mate, good luck Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
mudd fish one static popped up deadbait about 20-24 inches of bottom,if another rod is allowed fish a deadbait under a float at about 3 feet ,move both rods at least every hour.dont be scared of moving them ,at this time of year they can become quite dormant.if you drop a bait on their nose youve more chance of a run dave Quote Link to post
LUMPHAMMER 324
Get there as early as poss & watch them attacking the fry,''deadbait'' if no good after an hour move & if you can try a livebait Good luck mate ! Quote Link to post

Millet 4,497
I dont know if it's allowed any more but i used to use live bait mainly crucian carp on home made patronoster rig .. Quote Link to post
ianh 83
muddy bottom pike tend to almost be submerged in the mud and might not move much for a long time if its still enough id try deads fished under a unloaded pencil set at depth so float lays flat (just) then when you get a pick up it will stand up then move off. fish with minimum weight on the trace or just above so bait sins slow and settles on top of mud and twitch back to cover lots of water, also try popped up baits set to above the depth of the mud. keep moving, good luck Quote Link to post
