Tayto 52
I recently was out with a guy using one of these as an alternative to the bellman&flint. It worked well and at a considerably less cost! Quote Link to post

ginga john 268
I've tried a couple of different ones and am using the B&F at the moment, the Opto 3000 does the job just as well but may be a little slower to pick up a move, the ortovox D3 worked ok but I found it a bit mickey mouse and seemed a bit flimsy which turned out to be the case, The barryvox pulse is supposed to be good but I haven't tried that one yet In theory any of the avalanche locaters will work BUT it depends on the collars, The ortovox collars with the B&F box read a bit over depth, The Ortovox collars with the Ortovox box were ok but always missed by a little bit to one side or the other The B&F with the B&F collar works ok but still comes up the side at least half of the time I did try the Opto with the B&F collar and it was as good as the B&F box so no change there The experts say that the Barryvox Pulse and the B&F collars are the best set up if you have £400 quid to spend :cray: I think the best way is to get the best you can afford and see how you get on from there Edited January 26, 2012 by ginga john Quote Link to post
