saharashadow 26
No. Bridport Nets is a supplier.I normally use hazel as it grows very straight. It needs to be about the thickness of your finger and about 26" long. It's best cut in the winter and left to harden off for a year. You can get garden poles from Homebase or other garden centres, that are metal coated in green plastic that are about the dimensions you need. There is a great book on longnetting that is really informative called LONGNETTING FROM PEG TO PEG, by Martin King. There is a lot more to the art than you might imagine so it is well worth a read! shabadoodoo 16
thx i will hav a look into that book, i thought it was gonna be straight forward, but it is gonna come in handy with the permission ive got Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
If you are making your own pegs then straight Hazel or Ash wands are best for the job........length is a personal choice but i like mine around 20-21 inches long, this leaves the net at a setting height of about 18-19 inches to allow plenty of bagging or kill. i have never yet seen a rabbit jump a net at this height........they always try to push through. Sirius 1,391
Thats the height I use also, to many people set them too high, its not needed and its more to lug around Also most longnets are not sold with end pins, make sure you get some of those, Bridport nets sell them They are essential. saharashadow 26
A good tip I received for the pole length, is to hold the pole end under your armpit, and cut it where your palm sits. That gives you a manageable working length. Quote Link to post
