Bedding isn't just about heat it's also about comfort. A dog that has had a hard day or night running needs a soft surface to lay on to help relax the muscles and avoid injury. Can't be comfy to lay o

Giro, thats a similar set up to what I used to have and it works a treat.

In an 8x6 shed, I based my inside boxes, two, seperate, on the same hight as kitchen work tops, so I could work off it more comfortably and it gave the dogs (mine are usualy 26"+) plenty of room to rise and stretch. With inside doors for easy access.

Cut the drum in 1/2 then drill it to the floor and side and you can easily get 2 dogs in it heat lamp when colder plenty warm enough the shed is wood so should not get too cold anyway I've never had any trouble I don't like bedding so this works for me

Aye I use wheelie bins.

Cut the front of whellie bin and put bit ply round front to keep shavings/straw for winter and ya got ideal box.

Never put the dogs away wet socks if you do bedding or not thay will be lying in wet the bedding will get wet as for comfort plastic holds the heat + the heat lamp is always on after a good nights graft that sorts the aching muscles out mate atb donk

Not if you use the wax covered greyhound bedding mate it dries as the dog dries and doesn't get soggy brilliant stuff and dirt cheap a bail of around 40 kilos only costs nine quid and lasts forever. I don't know where in Wales you are but the fella that sells it is at ystrad munach greyhound track every week. I have tried every type of bedding available and this stuff Los the best by far.

Im in the process of doing this at the moment, albeit a slow process! the sheds about 15ft x 8ft. The door is in the centre of the shed, and I'm planning to fence off the right hand side for the dog, and cut out a hole in the front of the shed leading out into a run. Not sure what I'm going to use to fence the run off as money is an issue at the moment. Definitely going to look into that wax coated bedding.
