Westy76 546
FAO Westy 76. How do you test to see if the vasec hob is firing blanks or not? Not having a dog, just curious as I also thought there was no guarantee with vasec hobs. Mike Feck knows mike the vet doing my hob said he'd have to test to see if it was successful and for £70 I'd expect him to do the job properly. I doubt he puts him in a straw lined box with a pot and a handful of ferret porn!! Lol Seriously haven't a clue. Quote Link to post

Joe67 239
Your newly snipped hob has to wait a period of time to empty his tanks . then after i think its three months you get to try him and if the jill gets pregnant the vets not done the job right three months, thought it should be ok from 4-6 weeks Quote Link to post

Dazzam 239
Was talking to a vet the other day who advised me to wait until the Jills are in season before having a vasectomy done on a Hob as it is much more successful on sniping the correct tubes. I thought this sounded like good advice as i know of other folk who used a different vet who didn't give them this advice and it turned out unsuccessful. Huh? The op needs doing ASAP mate as the hob needs testing a few times to see if he's firing lives or not, mines in next week. My hob is caged seperately from my Jills. The Hob must must be aware when a Jill comes into season and becomes more sexually active which makes it easier for the vet to cut the correct tube. For £60-£70 i'm prepared to wait a few extra weeks to increase the chances of it being a success. Nothing worse than having a litter of kits when you don't want them. Quote Link to post
Joe67 239
Got ma mum to drop the hob off at vet today, she foned me to say vet said there is a risk with this operation because of some blood vessel, never told me that on fone.hopefully all gos well Quote Link to post

Or maybe an unfamiliar vet,so making it easier for themselves? How many people have had failed snips done then and did you have to pay extra to have them sorted? Quote Link to post
The one 8,482
Had a couple of failed snips ,never paided to get them fixed kicked up and said you can have all the young ferrets to re home or are you going to feed them till there of a age to re home got them redone free but then there working with scar tissue and it takes longer to heal Quote Link to post
Westy76 546
Fair play,I would've done the same myself. Quote Link to post
