Vasectomised ferret question

Recommended Posts

FAO Westy 76. How do you test to see if the vasec hob is firing blanks or not? Not having a dog, just curious as I also thought there was no guarantee with vasec hobs.

Mike

Feck knows mike the vet doing my hob said he'd have to test to see if it was successful and for £70 I'd expect him to do the job properly.

I doubt he puts him in a straw lined box with a pot and a handful of ferret porn!! Lol

Seriously haven't a clue.

They use a blow up Jill ferret with a seed collection pot underneath : ( if he fills the pot no sucsess , if keeps dry humping it hooray job done ,

Your newly snipped hob has to wait a period of time to empty his tanks . then after i think its three months you get to try him and if the jill gets pregnant the vets not done the job right

three months, thought it should be ok from 4-6 weeks :(

They send the cut bits of tubes away to check they have cut enough of the right bit off and that will be another £70 Please

Was talking to a vet the other day who advised me to wait until the Jills are in season before having a vasectomy done on a Hob as it is much more successful on sniping the correct

tubes. I thought this sounded like good advice as i know of other folk who used a different vet who didn't give them this advice and it turned out unsuccessful.

Huh? The op needs doing ASAP mate as the hob needs testing a few times to see if he's firing lives or not, mines in next week.

My hob is caged seperately from my Jills. The Hob must must be aware when a Jill comes into season and becomes more sexually active which makes it easier for the vet to cut the correct tube. For £60-£70 i'm prepared to wait a few extra weeks to increase the chances of it being a success. Nothing worse than having a litter of kits when you don't want them.

Or maybe an unfamiliar vet,so making it easier for themselves?

How many people have had failed snips done then and did you have to pay extra to have them sorted?
