armchair _hunter 5
ok great, how long did the process take you?

BrianSteven72 369
yes its possible but work on the recall first if its not that good , then let it see stock on a lead and if it even looks at them give it a good kick up the arse it will get the message eventualy but it could take quite a few outings before i would trust it
alan626 305
get the dog out around stock as much as u can on a lead try get real close to them and then walk away from them cows will come to u if he shows any singe of aggression give him a sharp no no personally if it ur first lurcher u should be getting a pup 12 weeks or some thing jmo

ftm 3,357
like has been said mate get the recall in place 1st then walk a few fields with live stock in them [dog on leash] and ANY pull towardsthem give the dog a very stern "no" it might take a while but you will get there im not a great fan of the electric collar but they are effectiveif nothing else works good luck mate
armchair _hunter 5
personally if it ur first lurcher u should be getting a pup 12 weeks or some thing jmo i kind of thought that too mate but im dead keen to get out, ive been researching for two years now and have the kennel nearly completed, books to re-read again and dvds in the post, which has me itching to go! i dont know anybody who goes out either to keep me happy (and fed)! im not looking a world beater either just something i can take all quarry with on a fairly regular basis

scotty2306 37
personally if it ur first lurcher u should be getting a pup 12 weeks or some thing jmo i kind of thought that too mate but im dead keen to get out, ive been researching for two years now and have the kennel nearly completed, books to re-read again and dvds in the post, which has me itching to go! i dont know anybody who goes out either to keep me happy (and fed)! im not looking a world beater either just something i can take all quarry with on a fairly regular basis me myself i would get a pup and learn it everything you want from now until next season that will keep u busy get the pup how you want it and then bring it on september time, this way you are not buying other peoples problems and you can start from scratch and surely u will get more pleasure out of watching a dog work that you have learned yourself.you will always worry around stock if the dog has bothered them and just watch for people saying a dog does this and that because they will tell u what u want to hear. if the dog is not broken to stock sounds like the owner has no idea and thats a no go to me sounds like problems.hope this helps
