Going the see the brother in law in a couple of months who lives out in the sticks out there so thought. I wasnt sure if it was legal or not as am sure i have seen videos of hare coursing from out that way. Even if it is ilegal may not be quite as hot as over here am not sure, The dogs will need excercise anyway even if I dont seek it out. Cost isnt too bad, we are taking car and trailer and its less then 200 for mid week to mid week crossing on the channel and thats including the extra for the dogs/trailer etc Fairly absurd having it illegal in a country normally known for being fairly liberal! 1 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Like most places, it's not too bad if you are in the right place, most fok will leave you to it. Best place i been in Europe for it was Hungary, lots of hares, huge huge huge flat land and you are allowed to walk where you please to run them, the farmers don't mind. Quote Link to post
lapin2008 1,587
lappin, theres a fella on this site called lennard,, hes from holland or belgium,, one of the two,,, pm him,,, he might shed some light on how hot it is,,,,, its one thing getting a slaped wrist....................but a fecker if your sharing a cell , with some big fecker in cloggs handle bar moustash and laderhosen.... ,,,, you got the pet passport Yeh locked in a cell with big Hans and thinking 'Going places never said anything about THIS' is not my idea of a relaxing holiday. Thanks for that I will send him a PM. I am pretty sure that the occasional flick of a lamp late at night wont draw any attention or at least be reported however it sits legally. I also doubt that the general public in holland are quite as anally retentive as those in this country Am getting the pet passports sorted. Also to take 2 lurchers over in the car with us is i think only an extra 80quid, cheaper then kennels for the fortnight Edited January 24, 2012 by lapin2008 Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
I believe running dogs must be muzzled and kept on leads at all times Can only be let off leads within enclosed areas. Basically Holland is run by their version of LACS. (the Green Party.) They've even got their own Private enclosed parks (same as LACS) were the trapped starving, diseased animals can die in peace as nature intended........ If you want hunting head East... lapin2008 1,587
Thanks for all the help/comments people. Thought I would update the thread with some more information I have got from Lennard. Lamping and coursing are both illegal, no exceptions. Official nature, reserves etc., is well monitored by special police though they had budget cuts. Unofficial nature, farm land etc can have lots of game and has very little policing generally. There are lots of space were they are allowed to run free (depends a bit on where you go) By 'Special police' it means rural police not specialist to poaching police. If you are caught having a dog of leash where you are not allowed, it will cost you 60-90 euros (60 more if you can't identify yourself). If you are caught catching game they can give you a fine of 200-500 bucks and possibly take your dog. Don't dress up in full camou and always play the "I didn't know that I can't let my dog run free here" card. Thanks again to Lennard for your help atb for the season Quote Link to post
