if he is like most terrier if it moves he will chase it..

more chance of seeing a rat about at night, or mooch about the place during the day, moving stuff.

just dont expect instant results, with luck the pup may see and chase one

Nice dog Paul73! Is it the pup in your profile picture? Good point BBB, my mate might be able to get a terrier bitch pup for ratting. If my little fella turns out good do you guys think it would be worth letting him sire a litter????

take it one step at a time, remember you have to get rid of any pups

Remember catching live rats and releasing them for dogs is classed as baiting so it is illegal

 

Dont start it on rats till it's adult teeth are through. He sound feisty enough for the job, but he needs the tools to do the job properly. And you dont want him getting bitten as a pup then being hesitant around rats in the future.

Make sure you get it properly socialised with other dogs, if you are lucky enough to get invites out with other folk's and their dogs, you wont get invited back if your dog wants to latch onto theirs

 

And lastly this will probably be the best dog you will ever own, so do everything with him and treat him like a king

Thanks for the advice BBB, your right Hahaha moll! He is a lovely little pup, yep you sure are right he is bloody fiesty... but he does like his cuddles late at night with me! The man we got him off of said i could take him to go and watch his mum work and once his teeth are all through help me get George his first rat! I will post some more pics as i think he has grown and his face has got longer!

Just an update he will be 11 weeks old this friday and will be having his last jab! i can't wait!!
