mintstick999 485
Most sensible people would walk the problem dog near to sheep on a lead and correct it any time it shows an interest, not let it loose and then try to correct it when you have no control over it.. Recipe for disaster IMO.. A very sensible answer, a lot of problems people have with dogs is,......... they just don't have any common sense anymore!! :no:imo.... the people, not the dog.. iceman001979 1,316
Shock the dog, shot it,get a ewe to give it a battering for f**k sake.LOOK take pup back around the sheep on lead if he even looks at one or pulls at them pull the lead and give him and a good telling off a slap on the nose wont go a miss.Keep doing it till the pup knows better your the boss not the dog and rem its old 5 months old it can make a mistakes just like owners that are just starting off.Its what you do after the mistakes that count best luck

Moll. 1,770
You are correct in a way regarding the pup needs to be loose to properly train it. Many a dog will not even look at sheep on the lead, especially after being chastised for doing so, but will take their chances when off. Dont use an extandable lead, attatch a long line of rope, nylon, washing line etc. And let the pup have it's freedom in the sheep field with the line trailing behind, that way it is easily caught when chasing. Dont use this in other places where the line may tangle though.
