Rabbiting dog

Recommended Posts

never chased a lure but made a lot from roe and hares and rabbs with dogs , before the european laws made things harder, rossetes and cups mean nothing to people who walk a lone or with a freind at night catching several roe a week, week in week out, selling them and makeing good dollar for them to know questin asked restraunts, mark, or takeing a jukel to a pest control job getting paid 100 for a shift to kill rabbs on the railways or more, cant see someone would mention money for racing ,buddy, as thats the job of a greyhound not a working all round lurcher who can spin a,roe pull a hare ,kill a,rabbit ,kill a,fox now thats a dog and a good dog man to train her or him all the best who walk at night or early morning dodgers

What was the thread about again??? :hmm:

oh yes,

I'd look at the overall picture, most dogs will make perfectly good rabbiting dogs as long as they're brought on right, have a think about what else you'll be using it for and decide from there.

me personally, something like a beddie/collie/grey but thats because I have one, ;)

NOW CHALKY MIGHT PUT UP A PICTURE OF MY BEDDIE COLLIE WHIPPET AT THE WESTCOUNTRY SHOW,AND SHE CAN CATCH THE RABBITS BELEAVE ME???

frank i dont no how this has got onto the breeding of your dog again but mark my words :D you are the now owner of a sluwhippet...theres no collie in her its a throw back it could be 6 generations back when they have added saluki to fetch the size up and add more wind then bred back out ... like ive said before frank i would be proud to own it with that little dash of saluki in it .... :D haaaaa haaaa......it isnt every day you get a throw back... ;)

Cheers for the snoop :D She did course and box in a rat this morning, eventually catchingt it  So i reckon your right mate. ;)

Later on in the year (Octoberish) i will be looking for another lurcher pup (DOG) :D At the moment im running a

27" Grey/Deer/Saluki/Whippet (dog) and also have a JRT x Patt (bitch) for bushing. So what im looking for is something that will make around the 22" mark, that is explosive off the mark and is fiery but not aggressive with my other dogs.

:laugh: ...Getting back on track!.... Never mind chasing plastic bags.. :black eye:  . 'Explosive off the mark' is what you need combined with intelligence of course!...Those two attributes are very high on the list imo for a good rabbiting dog. No good having a dumb dog that can't work out what the underground noise means and then being too slow off the mark.. :tongue2: ..

Get ready!

AGAIN MIKE NICE PICTURES,COULDNT AGREE MORE ABOUT A FAST INTELLIGENT DOG :clapper:

Here`s a couple of fast intelligent dogs, ped whippets both out of Sooty Sam/ Laguna lines my choice these days for a rabbiting dog . I`ve owned whippet x`s , best was a whippet x greyhound , she would catch anywhere and had enough stamina to lamp all night or rabbit all day in the Dales
