Wxm 1,638
i voted "yes" but even thou im out of work at the min i require benifts to help, but theres alot of people alot older than me that hasnt worked as much as i have and im only 24 and worked for near enough since i left school (about 7 years) and went to college. i also think that alcholics / drugies should not get their extra pennys so they can get their gear its a fcuking joke!! another thing they could do with doing is if your getting dole or any other money is get them / us / me on voluntary work, even if thats litter picking, helping the old people with shopping well anything to put back in to the system. FightTheBan 1,147
If I could get 26k for doing nowt, would I take it? No because I have dignity and self respect. But I work 5 days a week every week and make alot less than that. This country is damaged beyond repair imo incase some drastic action is taken. And capping benefits at 26 is far from drastic. Nik_B 3,790
There's people working don't get 26k, if you can't get by on that amount your doing something wrong. Also poverty isn't what it used to be, now if people can't have the latest state of the art gadget or a holiday abroad they think they're poor. Well said...also how much have you got to earn pre-tax to have a take home allowance of 26K? 30+ Grand I recon....it's a f**king disgrace that there are people on benefits earning more than some families that work for a living. Nik_B 3,790
and the worse thing is that this cap means there are people getting way way more than 26 grand
scothunter 12,609
It's a case of bolting the stable door scenario.yes there should be a cap on the amount of hand outs, but seems to me that the current situation we are in highest unemployment and getting worse by the day, that they are slashing benefits when a vast number of the nation need it the most.or possibly that's the Tories intention. This should have been done a decade ago.there will be a lot of families will suffer by this, and a lot don't deserve to be.
scothunter 12,609
I might add where are these folk on 26k about, most folk I know on the dole get a pittance it suprises me how they actually live.i say live survive would be more an appropriate word. stabba 10,745
This all boils down the unemployed/immigrants currently takin up housing in the more affluent parts of cities...chelsea /knightsbridge and suchlike. The amount of housing benefit in these areas run in the hundreds of thousands per year in some cases. Its not so much the amount of benefits recieved each week but more the housing benefit recieved. There,s also the fact that such areas as these are for the rich and not for the poor. It will be treated as a form of social cleansing by some do gooders whom i suspect may have a case...atb stabba...just to add i agree on the cap.
Wxm 1,638
everyone also has to remember thou that certain parts of the country cost more to live in, where i am in wrexham our council house is 360 a month and private rent is around 450, but the like of london will be higher so it wont be 26k across the uk, that will proberly be in somewhere costly to live in.
