willow93 0
Hey guys just a question to see what some of yous think. It seems my bitch has quite fragile legs and/or skin, shes always cutting her legs when just been on a mud field. A couple months back we had the dogs out and just caught a bunny with her, was sorting other dogs out in back of truck before putting her in, she stood in front of truck as i went to get her and i could just see a little bit of blood on her white foot. Because she is always getting these little nicks and its nothing i wasnt goint to check it but walking her round to the back of the truck i noticed apuddle of blood on every step, we lifted her leg up and and blood was squirting out. We realised she had nicked an artery so i took a cord from out my hood and wrapped it round her foot tight. she was fine when it stopped bleeding i cleaned it up and it was the size of a pin prick! Just if i didnt check it and chucked her in she could have been half dead by the time we got home half hour later, she was bleeding that much. But i was wondering if there is anything you can put on their legs to protect them fromb this or do you just have to run the risk? I know she had probly just caught it on a bit of flint ro something but shes always cutting herself. it sound silly but id rather my dog not bleed to deathh haha See my brother mentioned cutting two bits of innertube to slide on her front legs just to protect those vital arteries in her feet. I know the answers just may well be i got to run the risk of it, but thought its worth asking other peoples advice?

deadshot 0
jesus christ there expensive, if i was you i would get the dog checked out to make sure there is no internal problem to do with the blood not clotting and try the inertube, sounds like a plan that. willow93 0
haha yes rob: i know im gunna get daft replies but it just incase anyone has any advice. She only had the bad cut that once when she nicked an artery but she always cutting herself, lik it dnt even bleed and it heals so fast. They just tiny little nicks. If everyone thinks its something ive got to risk then thats fine, i mean your taking a risk on each run of your dog breaking its neck on a dyke right?
BEARINATOR 2,867
I mean your taking a risk on each run of your dog breaking its neck on a dyke right? True enough as well, just have to keep checking her after every run
robwelsh 354
i think any dog which caught its main artery would be the same...dogs do get cut alot more than people think...i check my dog over all the time, some might not...i think theres a few crosses which have thicker skin, bull x's tend too but most running dogs got thin skin...and it doesnt help if theyre smooooooth as feck an all... when i first had my bitch getting over barbed i was winsing in my boots, her stomach is like paper, but the rest of her is abit thick with a dense smooth coat..if you get me...atb anyway mate
