First trip out since the crash........

Recommended Posts

Went out for the first time since the accident with Foxdropper and Yokel Matt,I was lamping as the collar bone still wouldn't take a nights shooting,we got out of the truck and I saw a fox run up the banking as we pulled so when Matt was ready he got the rifle up on the sticks and I flicked the lamp on.She was still there sat watching us at the top of the banking, but,as the crack went off so did the Fox a clean miss!! Not a good start to be honest,so after a bit of ribbing we trecked up the Market garden which is the side of a valley and is very muddy at the moment so the boots were clogging very quickly so it was(for me anyway)a bit hard work.We done the gardens without seeing a fox, although we did see 6 Roe and a Munty doe which was nice.We then dropped down over to a sheep farm that I keep an eye on,and after a quick call a Vixen came storming down from the far side of the valley and straight in to Foxdropper(they took in turns)down on his bipod and at only 60mtrs it should of been and was a forgone conclusion, one in the bag.Great....I hear you say,but there was a problem,my thigh which has been numb ever since the accident started to get red hot and the pain I was getting was absolutely unbearable,so back to the truck which took a lot longer than it should, and we had a bit of a chat?craic, and then I said to go round again without me and I stayed in the truck.I was absolutely gutted as I wasn't expecting to have any trouble with the thigh at all,and I am going to have to pay for a Physio to try to sort it out,I am getting really pi55ed off with it all now especially as it is eleven weeks today since the accident and it is still feckin' me up,I am not very patient you see! Anyway, here is the Vixen that most probably took 14 hens last week from a smallholder next to the sheep fields............

Not sure what happened with that fox mate :icon_redface: don't think my mumbled excuses about cleaning the barrel were that good either  Great to be out with you again though mate despite showing myself up again  Don't you worry about that leg mate - its the first steps back to recovery and you can't expect to be slot back into it, especially with all the hills round there. It'll all come back together soon enough to be sure and you'll be back to throwing yourself over gates and snagging your nuts on barbed wire fences in no time............

Great to hear you're getting out again Martin, just takes time to get back to match fitness.I'm sure if you asked Dropper nicely he would let you sit in his roesack and him carry you round lol, i seem to remember a post about him carrying two does out of a valley without much of a problem lol never even broke sweat !!

Seemed like good idea too me mate, good, safe, raised shooting position and in the second pic Dropper is demonstrating the built in rifle rest so no need to carry your sticks :tongue2: :tongue2:  seriously though mate i hope you get back to feeling like yourself again quick.
