Blainy88 25
I've got a pup in a kennel alone for the first time tonight and he's making a lot of noise, any ideas on how to shut him up before the neighbours intervene?

cocker 2,654
tire the pup out with a bit of walking and playing, give it a good feed, and plenty of nice clean warm bedding in a draught proof kennel

I've even thrown a hot water bottle in there with him but he doesnt sound happy! Suppose I'll just have to try and ignore him and hope the neighbours do too lol! Peter4190 85
Shout at him just once when he is makin a noise and then when he stops for as little as a minuite go and let him out and tell him/ her there good and make a fuss then after 5 mins put him back in kennel, let him out after 20 mins, then after an hour then hour an half and so just build up the time he is left in kennel slowly tonight but jeep letting him out so he knows he's nit in there forever, some take longer than others as u may already know see how he goes, let me know mon

Blainy88 25
get the garden hose ready! I know a lad who said when his pups cried he swilled them with a bucket of water and they didn't cry again, any experience?
jarv5116 57
depends how young the dog is pal. I wouldnt let it out the run when its crying or it will have the opisite affect, so it thinks when it cries it will get out JMO If the dog is in the run crying at wire to get out,a squirt with garden hose quietens 99% dogs. Then if it starts crying again you just got click the hose in to tap and they back in there box quiet lol dont need wet them just the hose clicking in tap enough. they switch on to that pretty fast. But Its not advicable in winter with 6 week auld pup.
Stuff Wit Teeth 0
what i used to do is every time the dog made that stupid noise, used to go out and muzzle him for 10mins or so then take it off. Keeped doing that untill the dog realized when it made the noise it got muzzled. Took a few days but it shut up.
Blainy88 25
Good advice again, thanks lads. Ironically enough the dog seems to have shut up now for the last 20 minutes or so. Fingers crossed it lasts the night. Thanks again alds.
