just got back from a run out with the dog and noticed shes got a fairly deep slice on one of the pads on her rear foot. ive cleaned it with salt water and im going to put an antiseptic powder i always use on her on the cut, is it worth bandaging her foot to stop any muck getting into it?? any other advice would be much appreciated, cheers gary

Same has just happend to me I didn't bother with bandage because I think it would be more of a hindrance to the dog everytime mine goes out I put antibacterial cream over the cut to stop any shit getting in it if you got that I'd put vaseline over it plus the dog will keep it clean their selves

i have just bought a dog which has a deep gash across the back foot, initially i cleaned it and put savlon on it untill i got some antiseptic spray used by flockmen. its called septi cleanse and is a wound dressing/ cleanser with a powerfull anti bacterial action ( thats what it says on the tin!!!!! its from net tex ).after a good spray with that i put some intrasite gel on there ( which apparently promotes the regrowth of tissue)

its really looking better after a couple of days (not inflamed anymore and seems to be causing him less trouble).

considering it looks like the dog has had the wound for a while its clearing up very quickly ( so far, touch wood).

i got the stuff from a mate which saved me a vets bill no doubt( i was going to get a course of antibiotics) i will have to look around and get him some new stuff back and a bottle of each for my first aid cabinet too!!!

hope this helps bud.

i agree...good clean out, super glue and i have used spray plaster that worked a treat on a cut pad. never goto the vets, they'll charge a fortune to stitch, that just wont work. i know its hard to do with season nearly at a close...but lead walk for 7 - 10 days..dog will be fine
