hok boi 40
Just a guess but could it have been an otter? They do travel overland and do eat flesh other than fish. The rabbit has had it's backbone severed that would indicate an animal with powerfull jaws, mink possibly but I would think that is beyond a polecat or simular sized animal. micky 3,325
i think a buzzard set the ball rolling , i've had two others damaged by these birds in this field, i'am sure that a fox or badger were not involved as the rabbit seems to be dismantaled rarther than torn apart ,there are mink in the area ,allso there may be a cat living there ,thats gone feral ,close to where that rabbit was caught ,were two other rabbits in snares they had not been injured ,although this land is keepered and watched over the farm next to it is not ,there are a lot of rabbits in this area and sometimes people will ferret on the roadside boundary and a ferret may have been lost, i caught one in a snare last year and two in traps, the year before so thats a possability, but i have kept ferrets all my life and ,i have never seen them break a carcass like that before buzzard ferret and buzzard caught in the same field l,ast year Quote Link to post

1888andybhoy 7
I'm going to say otter bud, i get a lot of otter damage around my Pheasant pens and on the rearing field. They just kill for the sake of killing. Had an otter in a rearing hut last year and dead birds everywhere just killed not eaten. Quote Link to post
