Probably the 'best' and most expensive complete puppy food you can buy, was given two bags for nowt by a friend not so long ago and the pups come on fantastic weaned a litter of shepherds and a litter of jacks on it. That beings said the pups are in equally good nick when weaning on £4 bag of Gusto out the wholesalers. Mince mixed in with any complete puppy food brings them on a treat.

sure most pet shops wouldnt sell it if vets didnt push it. 60% markup means they'll tell you owt. full of cheap unlisted cereals and bulking agents such as maize plus meat meal which is all crap off animal unfit for human consumption. one of the most expensive foods on market and least value for money out of super premium range.

what would people say is the very very best dry food i still give my pup raw food when i can and other things such as veg etc but i cannot store large amounts of raw food for the dog as im living with my parents. if it was my choice then it would be raw almost all the time

I think ye've been reading too many forum posts, mate! Ye don't need to store huge ammounts of fresh meat! Just because a lot of guys say they buy stuff from the big sellers, loading Cwt's at a time into chest freezers .....

 

No. I buy my meat in, twice a week, from a butchers in town. I'm feeding four Dogs. How many have ye got yeself there? Only enough meat to feed one or two Dogs for a week would bearly register a blip on the radar of ye Mums freezer. Chop off a meal sized chunk and bag it up. Pop it in her fridge. She won't even notice

 

And, don't forget; Being all good, Human Grade stuff, she'll have nothing to fear either. Pop it right in there, next to the bacon!

aup mate we've fed bramble on raw rabbit and veg the last few days get out with the rifle and take a rabbit or two to last you a couple of days. :thumbs-up:your probabley thinking i dont want to kill to many rabbits as you want to work your pup next season on them next season so fellow hunters what other pest/game would be good for a dog.wood pigeon ,squirral as there are plenty our way.would anyone not recomend feeding these.

Venison is very good for lurchers Hare, sometimes pheasent, as not all dogs will eat it, chicken, mince, beef, tripe, all raw, meaty raw bones, all good foder.

Agree with DS on this one, I buy enough raw meat for one weeks feeding at a time, bag it up and pop it into the frezzer, no rpobs. if you can I would feed chicken and beef, fook my bitch has come on loads ince I started feeding her raw meats.

 

While on the subject of feeding raw meats, how often do you worm your dogs if you are feeding raw meats??? And is it drontal plus you use or what??

and yes rew your right mate id rather not shoot the rabbits, and just leave them for the dogs its better to watch a dog run them

I m with the majority here that dried s--t is the same second rate so called dogs grub as all the others, full up with so called protein swept up off the slaughter house floor,If you re not prepared to eat it yourself dont give it to your animals.have you any idea what sort of meat goes in to dried dog food? and dogs arent cannibals are they? Ever wondered why its never publicised exactly what the manufactorers put int their dried food ? because they can never let it get out or they would lose the billions of pounds they make because the public would not buy it also if an animal has been euthanased that syringe full of drug all goes into the grub. s--t mate

two things here lads,

 

first in reply to squirel tail, i think it is possible that a few cases may of spread to what you have been told, i can only speak from first hand experience, having slaughtered ALOT of animals for dog consumption (not human grade meat) it is possible to feed meat that has been injected, most vets use a lethal injection that is injected into the neck, it affectes the heart and brain only, i have only ever known it in horses we get form the vet as eveything else we shoot, but the removel of the neck from the start of the rib cage, and all pluck makes the rest of the carcass fine to feed (this relates to what is put into some dried dog food). for anyone who is intrested there has been some cases of kidney failure recently in regually fed dogs that has possibly related to this type of feeding, but it has never been proven, if it was reelated it would be ancumulated thing, perhaps over several seasons, but as i say noone really knows as they get fed lots of other stuff too.

 

and as for people saying they will only feed human grade meat, and "if you wont eat then they shouldnt", i think thats far from the truth, i have skinned hundreds of animals that humans wouldnt dream of eating but dogs will thrive on, if not better. fresh belly tripe with greening for example, day old bull calfs, unbled beef, older mutton, pluck, fortnight old horse(best for them when it goes black.) dogs are not humans afterall.
