When are you calling it a day?

One of the rabbits from this morning was carrying four young that were probably about 2 weeks away from being born, just wondering when people are stopping ferreting this year if they're carrying young already?

had to call it a day last week the 2 permissions i have have been decimated by myxi over the last few weeks. not a good outlook for the future im afraid.

Still a few rabbits on my permission, and every time out its a learning curve for my whippet pup, but my freezer is filled to the top, so if i do go out then two or three will do me. ive still never hit any young.

Down my way rabbits seem to be at it all year round..it must be the mild weather, them collar doves have even got a nest with two eggs it a tree next my house.

It's land dependant for me, different land, different times.

 

Was down south wed and pretty much every doe was full of young and i was passing places where the badgers had been digging up nests.

 

The higher and colder you are the longer you get.

 

Will probably be done and dusted sometime in march. Although i do like to get a day on my birthday, which is the 29th.

usually when i find young,whether in kittle or born because if the ferrets find them it becomes hard so i wrap up then,luckily not seen any sign yet...usually just into march though...

it will be a bad year if you have to call it a day in fecking january, yep we have been finding young at various stages when gutting all we can hope for is a real long cold spell but i can not see that, fecking weathers gone mad

I last went ferreting on my permission a couple of weeks ago, got a few rabbits no sign of any young.

 

Sounds like now though the young are starting to appear, im going to go this weekend see what i can see.
