rob190364 2,594
I was out lamping last night but decided to leave the ferrets in the boot so I could go for a quick session on another farm after sunrise. Arrived at the farm just after 7am, pissing it down with rain and strong wind. First warren we came across Tilly gave a positive mark so I netted up, entered the jill and within a few minutes out shoots a rabbit on the other side of the hedge. Tilly pins it in the net but for some reason she won't retrieve netted rabbits she will if she catches one, but not if it's in the net....god knows why. So under the hedge I go ripping my coat on the barbed wire in the process. Rabbit dispatched, back under the hedge I go again, by now covered in mud but one rabbit down within 10 minutes so I'm happy. After a while another rabbit bolts but this time it's on the right side, Tilly pins it again and another one quickly dispatched. A short time later another rabbit slips the net on the other side of the hedge and Tilly shoots through the hedge (cutting her nose on the barbed wire in the process, f'ckin stuff!) and chases it along but it flies down another nearby warren. As she's on her way back another rabbit hits the net and is dispatched. Really pleased with my jill, she stayed down there until they'd all bolted, and Tillys concentration when ferreting is getting better with each session. Just need to work on her bringing the netted rabbits to me and not disturbing the nets which she did a couple of times. Up with the nets and let my hob have a run through just to make sure nothing was left behind but all clear. Call from the mrs, baby has been awake since 4am so she wants me to come back and look after her so she can have a kip before going out later, bloody baby!!!! Gave my hob a quick run through another unnetted warren on the way back to the car but the rabbit bolts on the wrong side of the hedge and manages to escape before Tilly gets to it. Good little session, three rabbits in an hour. Off to bed now as baby is now asleep and I've only had 2 hours sleep so am bolloxed! Few pics (crap ones off my phone)... Quote Link to post
