We cant even keep Britain British, let alone the Falklands !

lets not forget 30 years ago 200 + british soldiers lost there lives + argintine men , lets hope for a peacefull out come to this situation

it was on the news earlier, a load of argentine protesters hurling missiles at the british embassy, walking round looking tough if it does kick off,we wont see the fecking likes o them for dust

It must certainly be tempting for them.considering they know our troops are stretched not tomention lack of cash in the war chest. However are they prepared to gamble on a war,I suspect not. They went up against us once before and were giving a good kicking, and lost a lot of soldiers.also the Argies were throwing down their weapons and surrendering in the hundreds.they ain't fighters that's for sure.if it wasn't for their airforce and French missles they would have got that kicking a lot sooner.

a lot of men killed there in search of a quick victory for maggie, took the emphasis off the miners strike and raised british moral but what a cost.

A lot of our boys (c company + fire support) have just came back from 2 months in the falklands. I was to go but couldn't as we had to do an exercise down otterburn.....

Glad really, last xmas in afghan, away this Xmas and then away to Kenya in 4 weeks. Don't know who makes up these programmes! Lol

I was in the falklands in 2010. The locals there were spot on, very patriotic and very generous to the military forces over there. Putting us up in their barns, giving us hot food and tea/ coffee and transporting us on the back I their tractors when we were fcuked! The overall experience was a crap time for us. Army barmy bullish!t wrecked it but the Brits over there were some of the best I've met with regards to hospitality.

The Lads said this time was no different.

In 2010 when I was there a small Argentinian special forces boat was washed up on the shore. I didnt see it but heard about it.

All we done for 8 weeks was patrol the land, all over it and I was told that this was to serve as a deterrent force?

I would hope that it doesn't kick off again but if it did then I like to think that Britain would stand up for the island and the Brits that inhabit it.

We'd have to rely on the Inteligence services this time, if they invade without warning I can't see what chance we'd ahve to retake the Islands without carriers and fighter support.

I read somewhere they thought they would be able to provide Tornado support from the Ascension Islands but would fighters be able to make that long journey to CAP? They'd only be on station for a short time and couldn't be scrambled at short notice.

On the flip side we've got Subs with cruise missiles and torpedos plus still a fair number of navy warships so this time you would hope they wouldn't hold back and sink anything they come accross.

This time I wouldnt expect any help from the yanks.they supplied plenty of intelleigence last time and bought surplus exocets.the current administration think the Argies have a claim to the island. Not to mention obamas not to keen on the Brits.

Interesting...turns out the Argies don't have an aircraft carrier anymore either

and a quick search on the internet shows their airforce is still made up from Mirage 3/5s, IAI Daggers and A4s.

Same stuff they had in 1982!

yeh i said that........of course,,, but they are already british its like asking any of us,,, how do you fancy being an argie now......and we should defend it..........i agree with evrything evry one has said...............

but hand on heart,,, how can we own an island thats so far away of the coast of another country........does anyone think it would be fair for the argies to own an island of our coast???????

heres a few random questions,, that i dont know the answer to

does it cost more to defend than its worth???

are we defending it because of the inhabatents??,, or because of mineral deposits??

if there were no mineral depostits,, would we defend it?? or would we just tell the argies they can have it,, and we will repatreate its inhabatents back here..???
