stroller 341 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 thats the problem whith ferreting these days some times i could do with one of those motorised trollys that fishermen use to carry all the gear, ferret box, locator, nets, long net, stop nets, quick sets, spade, knife, dog lead, lunch tin,rabbits ....................AND FERRETS!!!!!! what happened to a ferret in a sack a dog by your side and a pocketful of nets? tegater 789 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 Occasionally take a folding glock shovel, if in soft shallow soil on what I know is a small bury, but realistically they are no good for ferreting. I use a good bulldog but there are plenty of other good makes out there as well. Quote Link to post

Neal 1,866 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 I have toyed with the idea of customising the off-road baby buggy I use to take my son out in (on it's first outing I used the under-seat storage tray to bring back my youngest bitch's first rabbit by sheer coincidence). However, the amount of obstacles on the piece of permission where I work the dogs as opposed to the places where I walk them has put me off. Quote Link to post

Reminds me when i started out 43 years ago, one Lurcher, one ferret in a sack and 6 nets in the pocket, went anywhere, never bothered with permission, if I caught a pair, I was a happy man. lawrence 657 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 tell me about it, the amount of gear can get out of hand, i've got it down to one medium sized rucksack,takes nets,a two piece spade and lunch. a poachers ferret box and thats me. we have 3 lurchers between the two of us, my beddyx greyhound and 2 of her pups to one of mike browns whippets, so next season, we're ditching everything bar a pocket full of nets, travelling light and just bolting for the dogs. BazB 37 Posted January 21, 2012 Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 i carry a small roughneck shovel. its great for shallow sandy digs, but after a big 10-12ft dig the other day im going to get a bigger one probly one of those bulldog ones.When i go out i carry bag with all my kit in it, a game bag in there and a ferret box with a couple of ferts in there barry Quote Link to post
