Dan Edwards 1,134
I have no problem with any cross of dog at all cuz it really dont matter that much but...............what I do have a problem with is when people feel that a certain type of dog is gonna be the answer to it all. Pointer x Greyhound for example. I like it, like it alot actually but I know they aint gonna be the end all and be all. Whippet x Ridgeback..........sure why not but under no circumstance should anybody kid themselves about the romantic notion that these dogs are gonna be some kinda super dog that kills rabbits to "lions". I am not sayin that anybody even believes that but people do fool themselves alot with a buncha bullshit that they read about dogs. We all SHOULD know that every cross can fail and every cross can work depending on what our idea was for it in the first place. 3 Quote Link to post
obi2 239
It would be interesting to know what people think of a ridgeback cross, has anyone seen any work? Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
For all I own a couple of ped ridgebacks I also have a lurcher (3/8 bull, 1/2 grey, 1/8 whip) and its clear, even at 15 weeks old that she will outclass the big guys on pace. And tbh I suspect there are better mixes for rabbit etc coursing. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong PS Ridgebacks were never meant to kill Lions; only track and bay them Dan. Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
Im not getting one. Just seen them advertised. The ad states that half the pups have a definitive ridge an the others have no ridge but have a dark line of hair. Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
Had a Ridgeback a few years ago that was born without a ridge. Awesome dog in every aspect and truly broke my heart when she had to be pts at 2 yo; her whole abdomen was riddled with tumours. Broke my heart. Quote Link to post
