PETEWINN 5
Has anyone tried a Loc8tor which has a range of 600 feet. http://www.loc8tor.co.uk/ At £59.99 for one locator and 2 collars I think Deben at last have some competition. Quote Link to post
Guest world.hunters
does look very nice and a even better looking price im not sure if i would have problems the detecting the signal from under ground??? anybody else know owt about it Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
Look through the terrier section, They had a topic on it last week sometime Personally, I would rather use something desiged for the job. It might have 'ferrets' and 'terriers' on there list but Im fairly sure it says nothing about them being to ground. Looks abit fancy aswel tbh lol. Quote Link to post
Kay 3,709
I also wondered if it would work underground, i suppose an email to them will confirm if it does or not I have emailed them & will post up a reply if i get one off them Quote Link to post

Guest world.hunters
this is the reply i got from them. i just asked weather it would work for locateing ferrets underground Hiya Thanks for your e-mail, whilst we know people have purchased the loc8tor in the past for this application, I cannot give you any feedback as to the type of range you can expect to get. Whilst I am sure it will still work, the loc8tor has not been designed to go through ground, and as such there will more than likely be a significant reduction in range. I trust the above is of assistance. Kind regards Quote Link to post
Hob&Jill 258
A proper field test is in order here, thats the only way to find out. TBH I cant see it being worth it though Quote Link to post
Guest ash
Hi All I've got one of these. I can't say I've given it a field test, but I can't accurately locate my 3 year old daughter with it (and that's above ground, by the way!). It's a bit of a gimmic in my view although there is quite neat function which triggers an alarm on the handset when the tag moves out of range. We've got quite large grounds and we use it to ensure our kids don't run off! No good for accurate location though, in fact the tag itself actually beeps so you can find it. Quite handy for lost keys. The biggest problem is I keep losing the handset! Quote Link to post
benny 0
if my ferrets somehow manage to find thier way down to 600 feet the buggers are staying there so i think i might stick with the good old 16ft debens finder :thumbs-up: Quote Link to post
higgins 75
if my ferrets somehow manage to find thier way down to 600 feet the buggers are staying there so i think i might stick with the good old 16ft debens finder :thumbs-up: best sticking to one designed to locate underground for accurracy and sensitivity, the key finder/child locator types are best used above ground for maximum range, also range is usually quoted as line of sight and by this they would not take obstacles between transmitter and reciever into account.I wouldn't chance using one without a proper field test in various types of terrain that you would normally enter a terrier in, Higgins.
