Simonrees 45
Hi Guys, I've got a Ruger 22/10 carbine with synthetic stock and think there may be a problem. Now I know the Ruger isn't renowned for its superb accuracy, but I'm struggling to get decent groups at 75yds. In fairness I'm a pretty good shot but I seem to be getting 2 wayward shots from every 5 (or thereabouts) I noticed yesterday that on pictures of my gun on Google there appears to be a band around the fore end of the stock and barrel, this is missing on mine! There doesn't seem to be any movement in the stock but I'm wondering if this is contributing to the problem. Any thoughts? Quote Link to post

bob.243 9,145
I had a deluxe model at one time and it did not have a band, wasn't supposed to have one, is there markings or indents/grooves on your stock to indicate there should be a band fitted, perhaps you have the deluxe model, if you google it you may see a similar model to yours. I had a similar problem to you, I had a cheap scope on it, I changed it and that was it cured. ATB Bob. Edited January 20, 2012 by bob.243 Quote Link to post

ATB Bob. Bob I had a good look last night and there does appear to be a feint mark around the stock where a band would have been, so I would say yes it most certainly had one at one time. How much this is effecting my shooting is impossible to say but the rifle does seem quiet erratic! Quote Link to post
The Seeker 3,048
I changed my standard stock with the band and fitted a hogue stock, this doesn't have a band and it's still accurate. Daft question but have you checked to make sure the mod isn't loose? I had the same problem and the mod was half a turn loose and set the aiming all over the place. Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,145
Hi Simon, It might say on the action what model it is, mine said deluxe but it looked like the sporter in the photo, can you see a similar one to yours there? ATB Bob. Quote Link to post

Yes one of the first things I did infact! It might just be possible that it doesn't like the CCI HP Subs I'm using, but I've never known a rifle to behave like this. Quote Link to post

Yes its the 10/22 Carbine Bob (less the band) I Don't know if the band does anything Simon as I've never owned one like that, but I would think it's there for a reason, perhaps someone will come along and be able to tell you more, if not perhaps your local RFD might know.Hope you get it sorted out anyway, nothing worse than a gun thats not playing ball.
