Mickey Finn 3,011
When you read about Rubin Carters case. While he was finally exonerated of the triple homicide. Back in the day, before elaborate crime detection equipment. If they knew you were guilty of a crime. But, could not prove it in court. They would hang another one on you. "Thou shalt not get away with it". Was the rule of the day. Not considered fair by todays standards. But, it got criminals off of the street. I'm pretty sure he was quilty of something. Swampy 147
If anyone is interested. This is a good link. (Thanks to "steel monkey" for e-mailing it). Not a "pro" Rubin camp but certainly more impartial than some and with some good documents and links. Rgds Swampy Undercover PI ning
Attack Fell Terrier 864
Just out of interest lads i was talking to an old boy at West Ham today, proper old school he is,still says " allo boy " when he sees me ....he used to reel off stories about my ol fella when he was fighting and has a memory for fighters like nobody ive ever known....i asked him what he knew about Rubin Carter..........well i didnt realise he fought in London twice in the 60,s apparently he had just lost a world title shot and they was getting him fights around Europe to get him better known well the first fight he had at the Royal Albert Hall London was a controversial ending so he said he would fight the same opponent again " next month " to prove he was the better man kind of thing....so he stayed in London for a month but lost the return bout on points !.......turns out the Krays and other such little mobs were supplying him and his entourage with " women of the night " and showing him a good time so he was basically partying the whole time between the 2 fights......and of course he eventually lost the return...... supposed to be a nasty bit of work by all accounts, treated the women like shit and generally detested anybody white !...... The ol boy was telling me about an old friend of my fathers Vic Andretti who was a very good up and coming fighter at the time he was on the same bill as Carter both fights it turns out Carter humiliated Vic infront of a lot of other fighters but nobody was willing to front up to Carter because he had about 20 other raving looney blacks shouting and hollering about black power and suchlike.......stuff whites in England just didnt really know anything about at the time..........so seems to me Rubin Carter certainly wasnt a nice man........dont make him a murderer of course but who knows. Anyway just thought id share the tale with you chaps I love talking to the old fella's who have something real interesting to share. Nice one mate .

gnasher16 30,058
Quite Agree AFT. And lets face it if it weren't for the old boys still knocking about who else woudl be able to remember when West Ham were good? Not sure i can make much of an argument to that....sadly. Attack Fell Terrier 864
I think it's real sad the way them old true fella's are all dying out, younger generations are selling out and instead think it's acceptable to talk and act like some confused African/Jamaican/Paki who doesn't know where his bread is buttered. Who is going to take their place in the years to come? They'll be a bunch of silly old wasters who still go about talking like N-Dubz telling stories of how they used to have loads of money growing weed . What a sad thought.
