tegater 789
Quite legal and easy provided that your reason for doing so fits within the General Licence and certain other requirements such as adequate food shelterand water for call birds. Loads of info on the internet if you are unsure. Try BASC website for starters. Quote Link to post

events co-ordinator 353
Make sure you are watertight on the reason to trap them as thats the one that will be challenged in court. You say you have a smallish garden what crops or food item are you "protecting" or is it on health grounds? because now that you have posed these questions on a public forum you may be called to justify your actions. My mate was doing it for magpies in his garden but they were taking the putty from the glass on his greenhouse and they plundered a wrens nest in his hanging basket he said they were eating the wren chicks like feathered mars bars. 1 Quote Link to post
Dr mole 15
Hi Barry I've just enquired with Natural England about the use of Larsen traps and wether I need a licence for magpies. I don't, but must - and to quote "You should read the licence carefully to ensure you adhere to its conditions" Here's the link they sent me (I think you'll have to copy and paste it): http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/Images/wlc-gl04_tcm6-24149.pdf Take particular notice of paragraph 1 - the purposes of control and also the welfare of the decoy bird. Hope this helps. G. Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
If you identify a good reason to need to catch them then thats fine, dispatch caught birds quick and in a humain manor , provide room for the call bird in the holding side of the larson that adheres to the legal requirements, give a constant supply of water and food, and a perch to rest on.provide shelter from the elements, look after the call bird and it shall last a long time in captivity Atb Quote Link to post
