FFS it is of historical interest , it was perfectly legal at the time , filmed by PATHE news , a bastion of respectability , in a sympathetic light , . lets not start denying the past just to appease

Come on GD WAZ explain.

Ill do my best. Werent that long ago that someone was in the habit of posting photos of worked terriers and now they are saying these videos of working terrier heritage shouldnt be posted. Hard to discuss on here, so ive said enough I think.

saw the clip a while ago. not my cup of tea. but it is good to get an insight of the working history behind the breeds . as for folk moaning and bickering. i dont see it like that. its called debate and its healthy. everyone has viewpoints and are entitled to them

i dont think there entitled to say that was baiting in that clip,if you want to say that go join one of them anti sites and say it on there, this site is about hunting and working quarry past and present that is what happened years back, and to slag fellow hunters of old and call the badger baiters is just wrong, without there knowledge where would we be today

imagine how the game fairs would be today if the health an safety and animal rights n all that stopped telling us how to live. personally in my opinion the only problem with the video was it wasnt fkn long enough. if the modern fairs were like that i wouldnt miss a single day. personally how cn a nation that prides itself on its military and trainning its people to be killers in the modern wars turn around and say its cruel to let your dog kill animals what about the poor innocent and the soldiers who die fighting these wars needlessly? is it not cruel on them? but they aint banning wars. so thats why i always say that in britain animals have more rights than humans

All i see is history ,like the old war clips .We dont do things that way anymore but look at the state of the country for it .This country is very god good at breeding moaners but not doers .Keep an eye on those that decried this practice because you wont see a single hunting thread from them either .

Nothing to do with ammo for antis-baiting is not hunting-now or 100 yrs ago. Anyone that does/did it has no respect for the quarry, whatever it is,and do not represent hunting to any one with morals,be they anti or hunter.

can you tell me where i have said what happened in the clip was hunting?

you say anyone who has trialed a dog has no respect for there quarry,a lot of the older generation of terrierman in Ireland have done these trials and to say they dont respect there quarry is just ignorance/utter shite, just because you do pest control for a living certainly does not make you an expert on something you clearly no nothing about.

Trials-call them what you will. I can and do fully appreciate a game terrier. Is there a need to,shall we say 'work' captive quarry? Yes it was done by the old school guys in a different era. So were other forms of 'sport' that involved captive quarry-does that make it right? Each to their own,if it floats your boat then good on you.

As has been said, the forum is about opinions and I've given mine. If anyone disagrees fair enough, you're entitled to,but it has nothing to do with bleeding hearts or political correctness or fecking antis-wild quarry, hunted and dispatched humanely or released if you will, long may it continue. Pulling captive quarry repeatedly? Not for me I'm afraid.
