wilko tango 50
great show. How can ya all say theres nothing sporting about that. The dog had to travell 40 or 50 feet up the tube to meet the badger and pull him that would take a good dog to do that. And knowing the wheaton if there was a bear in the end ofthe tube it would still have no probs going in to meet it.To few and far apart these days but still some good lads trying to keep them right. 6 Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
not as game as the little dog that would have faced him underground Quote Link to post
wilko tango 50
as am a terrier man am not going to knock them obviously the true working terrier in my eyes is the bravest of all animals. But come on mate they still had to meet him under ground and am sure if the tubes were big enough in natural earths you would have no probs digging wheatons. Not being smart but if you dont know anything about the breed maybe you should nt comment on it. 1 Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
Found this old clip on the British Pathe website!! it's an interesting clip of day's gone by 29/03/1923 Blue Terrier Trials at Crumlin, Ireland. I'd like some views on the dog's please! rather than a debate on the practice's shown, but! they are of some historical interest Tom http://backup.britis...rd.php?id=19874 Well found Tom, a nice look at the past. Maybe not how it should be done but how it was done. Thanks. 3 Quote Link to post

BIG G wheton machine 1,594
there was more harm in the Gypsy blood documentary on last night, this is historical piece of film when the antis did not have their way I have considered buying a digitally remastered copy of the full film for my collection. I would love to know if the terriers are kerryblue or wheatens or a mix and they seem huge too compared to any wheaten terriers I have seen which is only a few I imagine this is just a trial and that these dogs served their time in the field before the days of a locator when often the only way to retrieve the quarry at the end of the dig was with these dogs no antiboitics back then if you got yer hand mucnhed and no sick pay at work either. the dad of my lurcher pups is a kerry wheaton cross looks exactly like them dogs on the clip and hs huge too hes a blue grey colour but the build of a wheaton cant get the pics of my fone to comp Quote Link to post

Tayto 52
What i would call baiting is a badger in a pit above ground. Quote Link to post
Big bald beautiful 1,231
Ok put it this way ,the badger isnt in its natural surroundings.it is taken and put in a wooden tunnel Quote Link to post
stormyboy 1,352
Nothing to do with ammo for antis-baiting is not hunting-now or 100 yrs ago. Anyone that does/did it has no respect for the quarry, whatever it is,and do not represent hunting to any one with morals,be they anti or hunter. Quote Link to post
