Born Hunter 17,763
Good luck and good on you! It's a damn shame to see land without the odd hare. One thing I would consider though is why are'nt there hares there already? There will be a cause which might need addressing first, otherwise you may find that any re-stocked hares soon diminish. Predation, land management, farming practices, over hunted, poor natural ground for them etc etc. Might be worth consulting a Game Conservancy boffin? There will be some big driven hare shoots in lincolnshire starting within a few weeks where litterally thousands will be shot over the period of a month. Try to contact someone involved in one of these, probably your best bet. Do you have any idea how many you will be re-locating? I shouldn't think the big hare shoots would mind 20-30 being taken when they are shooting several hundred a day..... Quote Link to post
deantrevallion 7
Thanks born hunter there used to be hares on the land 30 odd years ago because my grandad was a lurcher man and used to tell me there was hares never hundreds but he said youd see between 10 and 15 a night then they had a keeper turned out was fiddling everywere he could and hares at the time were worth about 6 quid a piece and very fast they had diminished to next to non plus farmers were letting every tom dick and harry on lamping this is mine and quite a few others oppinion anyway might be completly wrong but hey. And yes i have heard of these massive hare shoots that they have and was hoping that maybe as you have said they wouldnt mind missing 20 to 30 as you have said and i would obviously give anyone involved a drink for there troubles it would be nice just to see a few around the place once again.
