bb89 0
i have uploaded the same image again, with a red line from the start of the break barrel, to the edge of the photo, the line is dead straight, the barrel bends part way along where stated...... is the pivot near where the pellet goes? is that what part you mean? if so then the barrel is straight from the 'pivot' up to the red vertical line where it starts to bend. ty Edited January 19, 2012 by bb89 Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
put a metal or ridig obstacle down the barrel, roughly the same dia as barrel ie barrel cleaning kit, and that should give you some sort of idea mate, it looks like its got a slight kink closer to the loading area..new barrel shouldnt cost that much mate Quote Link to post

bb89 0
cheers for that rob, my problem is this was a clearly a problem before i got the gun and i assume this because of the turrets being adjusted all the way before i touched it... but being inexperienced and never having owned a gun before i didnt know what to look for just trying to find out if it is bent or not and if it can be fixed.. but thanks, atb Quote Link to post
t10shp 20
the barrel was not bent when i sold it because i looked down the barrel and it was perfect and i could hit everything i aimed for, the barrel is definately bent now but was not when i sold it Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
yeah..it is abit of a kick in the knackers ! how much you give for it if you dont mind me asking? cos that really depends whether its worth buying a new barrel..have a look on other sites, i knew there was a fella from caerfilly breaking a lightning, on gumtree..not so long ago mate.. and from someone like that itl be quater the price of that chambers...atb mate anyway Edited January 20, 2012 by robwelsh Quote Link to post
t10shp 20
its a kick in the knackers for me too rob, getting blamed for selling a dodgy gun, 1 thing i definately wouldnt sell is a knackered gun, too dangerous when there in perfect working order never mind when there fooked Quote Link to post
bb89 0
T10- at what distances where you hitting things? rob- i paid 150 for it.... it has hardly been used, as when i got it home, i had no pellets or targets.... i have used it maybe 5 times, every time i have had to aim at the very top line above the mill dots to get it anywhere near the centre of the target and thats at 20yards... it has NEVER been dropped, knocked or cocked and fired with the barrel broken. barrywhite 282
even if the barrel is bent the pellet will fly straight .put some packing in the front scope ring .see what that does.the bend is from shooting the gun with the breech open . Quote Link to post
bb89 0
barry- i did try packing the front, just to try everything i could think of, but i thought it was the back mount that would need packing? but no matter how much i pack it, it doesnt lower the aim by much more than a couple inches. and like i say, if that bend is only from firing with the breech open then it must have been like that before i got it. robwelsh 354
the matter cannot be resolved then, except buy a new barrel, t10 says it wasnt like it, and you must of done it, and you say he must of done it.. no1's gonna put their hands up to it ...so just buy a new barrel, their not that much, 63 quid..but it still is a bitch ! my mate fired his hw90k on accident broken..and his stock snapped, with no bent barrel...check the stock for a little crack behind the trigger mate..might find that you will need a new stock soon too...sorry to point it out Quote Link to post
Sweeney-Todd 208
Hi BB. Sorry to hear about your rifle mate. Before you go spending more money on a new barrel, have a go at straightening yours, it can be done. First, remove the scope, and the stock from the rifle, trigger unit to if possible. Lay the rifle mechanism on a table, use a towel for protection, and to help stop too much sliding. Cock the rifle holding it as straight as you can, let the cocking lever go all the way untill it bottoms out, then apply further pressure, you will feel the barrel move, then it will offer resistance again, at this point you will know you have gone far enough, and your barrel should be straight again. Try it buddy, you have nothing to loose, and everytrhing to gain. Good luck, hope it works for you. ATB. Bill. Quote Link to post
ukhunter 111
a new barrel will cost you £65 Quote Link to post
bb89 0
thanks for the advice bill, i have just been researching on the internet and found similar advice. i am not confident i am strong enough to do it myself, but i rang my local gunsmith and he says he can straighten it and it wont cost anywhere near as much as a new barrel. rob- i have checked the stock and it seems fine, only the scratches and blemishes that were there when i bought it (thats not a complaint, i knew it was a well used rifle with marks on it) Quote Link to post
