has anybody ever tried a hare restocking project?

just wondering could they be released after being bred in captivity for the purpose of hunting that way no one can gurn about it. similar to fish stocking. that way they wouldnt be seen as endangered

i meant back when it was legal. i dont see the prob with it we stock fields we hunt if we ever se a decline in numbers of rabbits. dont think anyone can think too much it was aimed for th irish coarsing boys

i was thinkin of a simlar idea but it was for food basicaly get land an breed rabbits hare for game resturants

there was one on country file once i think about 2 years or so ago carnt remember where it was exactly but they where stockng them back up as they got whiped out of that paricular area

i was always told by a mate" ya can only kill it once" which is true so we always make sure we never hunt an area out be it lamping or digging in a way it shows that were not blood thirsty savages lol

Is there really a need? Parts of England are lifting with hares. Anywhere that needs restocking should just use re-located hares. Cheaper and easier.

 

Besides I don't think the anti's oposition to hunting with dogs is based on the effects hunting has on a population, more the percieved cruelty involved and the fact we enjoy the act of hunting.

Yeah it's pretty difficult

 

It's been tried and failed in the past... (releasing captive bred hares)

 

I'm pretty sure there was a study in Italy where they released captive bred hares back into the wild. I think 90% of them died within a month. I will try and find the study.
