socks 32,253
Put a good blob of Vaseline on it mate that will stop the bleeding.
black jack 10
I've tried that mate! But as soon as he shakes his head it comes off? Thanks though Any other ideas
Cleanspade 3,324
smear it in vaseline. and tape it back. so it is kept from flapping for a short time. keep applying vaseline for a few days
socks 32,253
Then cover in Vaseline and strap it up for 2days and slowly unwind the bandaging when you remove it.

events co-ordinator 353
After treating or taping cut the foot off an old sock or stocking and pull it over the head to hold both ears so that when the dog shakes its head the wound doesnt bleed again. coneykenny 98
strerzac powder is great for preventing infections but wont stop the bleeding mate, loads of vas and clamp the ear with ur finger and thumb to stem the blood flow .once you get it to stop ,tape it up and leave it
RubyTex 1,957
I had a similar problem with my Springer, he cut his ear on barbed wire. Unfortunately no matter what we tried it would not stop bleeding, from vaseline to taping and bandaging. Took him to the vets who shaved the affected area and whacked another bandage on. Went back two days later, the vet took the bandage off and Tex shook his head...blood flew everywhere, up the walls, the doors and on the vet. Not ideal! Had to have an op to cauterise the area and he's got a chunk missing (not that you can tell through his fur). Hope you got it sorted mate.
