Second hand TX200

Hello,

 

i recently bought a secondhand Air Arms TX200 (not sure what mk or if its a hunter carbine or not) and im very pleased with the accuracy of the rifle. It seems to be quite an old version seeing as the serial code starts with 02 which i was told means that it was made in 2002. I chronoed it and its putting out 10.3 ft/lbs,

 

Now im not too concerned with the power as its been knocking down squirells and pigeons with ease but i suppose that i wouldn't mind having the confidence of knowing that i was shooting a full powered rifle.

 

My question is this, is it worth giving the gun a service as it is obviously quite old and slightly underpowered. And if it is worth doing what do i need to complete the service.

MSK kit from Air Arms, just ring them up, give them the serial number, they will tell you what MSK kit you need, everything that you need to bring it back! Mine is running at 10.3, been to ill to get it to a gunsmith, way too complicated for Mole to do (he likes his guns to work properly, if Mole worked on anything other than external O rings, they would not be working properly)! The full service kit from Air Arms is under £40, posted!

i tried once with disastrous consequent on a paintball gun... i know its not shooting led but after 100 shots in about 10 seconds in the leg because you forgot a seal and a bolt never again will i service a gun my self.... fecking guns....

Hi Matt,

 

The TX is an easy rifle to strip and maintain. If you were thinking of putting new internals I would recomend either a V-Mach kit (quite pricey at £70) or give Sandwell Field Sports a call, they do a full tune for the same price!

 

Before spending money I would recomend a simple strip down, polish and re-lube! You may be surprised at the differnce it makes without splashing the cash.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm going have a look at the Air arms master service kit, it sounds like a good deal, and has everything in one package. I cant quite afford the v-mach so i think it will be the air arms. Is there a noticeable difference between the AA service kit and the V-mach? If there is i might consider holding out for a bit longer till i can afford it.

Buster, How much would a master service kit be including postage? for the TX 200HC MK 3 in .177 the gun is a 2001 model.
