To be honest its difficult to make an assessment from the pic, try and get him out and stood up straight. He would look a hundred times better with a bit of rain on his back. The feathers tend to curl up and go soft when they get too dry. If you can't get him out in a bit of weather then just dunk him in the rain barrel every week-it will make him look much better.

 

What are you wanting to breed for ? The show pen or just to have a few around the place ?

Im looking more towards show but its very hard to get hold of good stuff over here on the island.

 

Here are two more i have, father and daughter. bred from them last year and just produced crap!

Any advice or help much appreciated.

I have seen a lot worse harv, everything can be improved upon with selection and culling. The sec of the Asian Hardfeather Club is also from the Isle of Man, have you contacted her at all about obtaining stock ?

yes i know julia, see her more at lurcher shows. She seems to be more into her larger stuff and said the same as you about the selection and culling. Is it true that the best looking hens dont always produce the best chicks?
