scooterboy 0
Hi all, Im thinking of taking the plunge and getting the MK3M locator. I have used the MK1 for over 20 years with great success, but after the last outing, one of the boxes started playing up (its over 20 years old) I would like to hear from anyone who have used both and whats your thoughs, are they as good as they say they are Thanks in advance Scooterboy Quote Link to post

darbo 4,776
had the mark 1 for years the only problem i had was with the thumbwheel coming loose on occasion. touch wood had no problems with the mk3 for the last 5 years. just took a bit of getting use to. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
The Mrk3 does the job, but is a badly made, flimsy piece of shit. Quote Link to post

jambay5 191
not sure mate but i think someone on here can service your mk1! if you wanted to keep using it Quote Link to post
Guest vin
Mick Dad does a service repair on the old mk 1 boxes.. his number is in the net making section from sheffield. PS. I like the Mk 3 .. it does the job better than a mk1 it just takes a while getting used to how it works..and it does sound very loud and crazy at 1st..but its totally neccesary when your in a loud place..and when not...a Bit of tape over the holes quietens it down. hegaross 2
i think the mk1 are better than the mk3 thare easyer to use and arent noisy the mk3 recks my head with the sound it sounds like a space ship or something when you are trying to listen for a bolt i would say try and get your mk1 box fixed the mk3 boxes are ok but i dont think thare the best Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
get the mk1 fixed mate.mk3 is a load of shite ,it shouldnt be this hard to locate a ferret ffs especially for the price, its badly made/designed and temperamental, imo this must cost about £20 to manufacture .icant beleivethis is the best they could have come up with dont waste your money pal,im sure certain "experts"have been "bunged" to promote these, why should you have to "get used"to using it????cant understand it,for that price it should dig em out aswell, steer well clear atb dave Quote Link to post
andy s410c 61
Nothing to complicated about using the MK3.Put locator on search, find ferret & switch to locate, hey presto ferret depth found.Turn the pin pointer down...no more noise & use the lights.Only thing i find is the depth can be a bit off,i normally take 6" of the reading.I have also used the MK1 & they both do the job.
