Matt3699 142
Matt, everyone I’ve heard who has seen them run has high praise and a couple have commented on their retrieving. From the history it would seem the Gauls brought the northern European greys to Spain where they would have met the Moorish saluki types, a thousand years of mixing and you get a Galgos. Yep, I certainly back them in terms of speed and stamina. Very lean dogs too. i have seen on here in the uk,, at a show in norfolk about 3 years ago,, an old woman had brought a few over ,, somthing to do with a galgo rescue,,, i was talking to her a good while, a very knowledgble old lass when it came to dogs and coursing. Yeah there was a lot of dog rescue places. The Spanish don't give a shit about their animals. If they have a litter of pups or kittens they get dumped on the river bed. It's actually a huge problem over there because a lot of them a turning feral. The cats aren't so bad, they were pretty good to hunt... But when you come across a pack of feral dogs in the middle of nowhere you get a little wary. I used to always take my rotty and a 6 inch hunting knife strapped to my belt. Never know if a boar or wild dog is going to cross your path. The spanish are also known to hang their dogs after the coursing season. There was an article in my local paper one month and it showed pictures of Galgos hung from the trees as they were no longer of use to the men that owned them. Some would say barbaric. ferreting king 9
What about this for example, 2 ex track greyhounds that someone puts the time and effort to get them working and taking game on a regular basis, say after a couple of seasons under there belt would it be worth breeding them with each other to attempt to put working traits back into the PUPS or will all the PUPS just turn out to be million mph injury waiting to happen Quote Link to post
Dan Edwards 1,134
OK.........so I had some computer troubles lately and now I cannot view what I believe to be called embedded videos like the ones that sandymere put up.
