Do you have a preference Rough or Smooth coat lurchers

Hi,im just curious as to whether any of you, have a preference into whether their lurcher has a rough or smooth coat?

if so whats your reasons for your choice?

 

for me personally, its not a major factor, but my mate on the otherhand swears by smooth coats and simply refuses to own a rough coat, which to me is kind of daft, but hey each to their own eh.

To me, it doesn't make a ha'porth of difference to the dogs ability, being rough or smooth, but I'm old fashioned and like the old "hairy Greyhounds" and "hairy Whippets" !! LOL !!

Yeah no doubt it doesn't effect the ability of the dog. I prefer smooth coat. That is just personal preference though.

I like either..it's easier to see the general condition of a smooth dog but it's just as easy to feel the general condition of a rough coated dog..im sure it's a personal preference..and the type of coat has nothing to do with the working abilities..

maybe i wasnt clear ,

 

he never said anything about the dogs performances, but again it was just his preferrence, i found it weird though that he wouldnt consider a rough coat. at the moment i have 2 smooth coats , but the best dog iv ever had was a rough coat,

Coat doesn't matter as long as the dog does the job in hand!! But a rough coat hides sins atb cbx

I love the look of some rough coated lurchers, especially some of the deerhound cross types and the Bedlingotn cross types, but, most of the best working dogs Ive owned were smooth coated

I've always preferred smooths just purely down to looks and that goes with any breed really and the coats are easier to maintain when smooth or short.

I like both, but I'm hoping my new pups will be rough coated,
